This page is especially dedicated to all police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and were killed in the line of duty and for those officers who have been injured in the performance of their duties. I would also like to honor each and every police officer or law enforcement official who puts their life on the line to make the world a better and safer place to live, and by keeping alive the memories of our fallen comrades.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God."
Matthew 5:9
A little about my Law Enforcement background.
I am a Special Agent with the United States Army Criminal Investigation Division Command (USACIDC), or commonly referred to as 'CID'. I have been with CID for the last 9 years. I was a Military Policeman for a little over six years, after joining the military back in 1984.
Over the last 16 years, I have been assigned to the United States Army Correctional Activity (USACA), Ft Riley, KS, which was a medium custody prison for US Army prisoners. I worked there as a Security Guard for my first three years in the army. I then moved to a Physical Security site at Kriegsfeld, Germany, where I spent another three years.
I applied for CID while stationed in Germany on my first overseas tour and was selected to attend training at Ft McClellan, AL. After graduating from "CID Basic", I was stationed at Ft Bragg, NC, one of the busiest offices for USACIDC. I spent five years at Ft Bragg, and in that time, I went to Airborne school, deployed to the country of Somalia for Operation "Restore Hope", and deployed to the country of Haiti for Operation "Restore Democracy". While at Ft Bragg, I was exposed to a wide variety of criminal investigations, ranging from death investigations to basic thefts.
I am now assigned to the Protective Services Unit, Ft Belvoir, VA, which provides executive protection to select Department of Defense and Department of the Army dignitaries. I enjoy my job and the challenge it poses, which includes coordinations with foreign governments and extensive travels all over the world. I am currently deployed to Kosovo as the Personal Security Officer for the Commanding General of Task Force Falcon. I am responsible for a squad of Military Police soldiers, which comprise his protective detail. I ensure the safety of the General during all movements within Kosovo and Macedonia. I have attended some specialized training since I have been with CID, such as Hostage Negotiations, Child Abuse Prevention and Investigations Techniques (CAPIT), Advanced Fraud Investigations - Europe, Protective Services Training Course, Counter Terrorism, Anti-Terrorism Driving Course, MP5 Machine Gun Operators Course, and the Combat Lifesavers Course..
I have been involved with Law Enforcement for the past 18 years. As I was finishing High School, I was a member of Explorer Post #21 of the Des Moines Police Department, Des Moines, IA. As a police explorer, I worked with law enforcement officials and learned what it would be like as a police officer. That was how I got started and also how I met my wife, Diane. She was a member of Explorer Post #78 of the Polk County Sheriff's Department, which was located in and around Des Moines, IA. If it wasn't for the training, discipline, experience and dedication I learned as an explorer, I don't think I would be were I am today.
