The Bruce's

This is the Bruce family, which consists of Eric, Diane and Hannah. Diane and I are 34 and have been married for almost 16 years. Hannah just turned 5 a little while ago. We also have one dog, Abby and one cat, Emma. Abby is a mixed breed we have had for three years and Emma is a Tortie and we just got her after arriving at Ft Belvoir. VA.. I am in the US Army and we are currently stationed at Ft Belvoir, VA. Diane and I were married shortly have I finished basic training at Ft McClellan, AL in Dec 1984. This is our first time to the Washington, DC, area and I think we will like it here. We have been to Germany twice and we loved it both times. We love to travel and see the many sites that the world has to offer. So far, we have been to France, Holland, and Belgium together.

Eric Bruce

Picture of EricProud to be an American Veteran MedalHello, my name is Eric. I was born in Des Moines, IA and lived in a small town called Bondurant, IA. I am 34 years old and I am currently in the US Army. I am a Special Agent with the US Army Criminal Investigation Command. I have been in the Army for over 16 years. I am currently assigned to the USA Protective Services Unit at Ft Belvoir, VA, which provides protection for certain Department of Defense personnel much like how the Secret Service protects the President. I enjoy watching movies, working and playing on the computer, researching genealogy for both Diane and I, and building models. You will soon find out that I am a big "Trekkie", that is a Star Trek fan for most people. I also enjoy reading any good Tom Clancy novel, which is all of them. I would be happy to sit and chat with anyone with the same interests.

Diane Bruce

Picture of DianeProud Wife of a Veteran MedalSay hello to Diane. She is also 34 and has been with me for the past 18 years. Sometimes, I wonder why she has stayed, but she loves me and I love her, and that makes everything OK. Diane was born in Hampton, FL, but moved around a lot as a child because her Dad was also in the US Army. Diane is a wonderful person with a good sense of humor and capabilities to talk with anyone. Diane has been working for the Crestar Bank here around Ft Belvoir, VA. She is looking forward to starting her new career in the banking industry. While in Germany, Diane worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) as a supervisor in the check cashing cage. She has been very supportive of me and has had to deal with numerous changes, to include moving around with the Army, four deployments, including the one I am currently on, and just plain me. Ha Ha. I couldn't have gotten this far without her. She enjoys watching movies, cross stitching, crafts and collecting all sorts of dolls, from antiques to Barbie Dolls.

Hannah Bruce

Picture of HannahProud to be a Daughter of a Veteran MedalThis is our pride and joy, Hannah. She was born on 19 March and is well beyond her "Terrible Two's", but still kicking. She is as stubborn as her mom and dad, but we wouldn't have her any other way. Well...maybe...? Oh, I'm just kidding. She likes to watch Barney, Teletubbies and Sesame Street. She used to go wild for Barney, BJ, Baby Bop, Elmo and Big Bird, but now her taste has moved to the Teletubbies, Scoobie Doo, The Power Puff Girls, and Beanie Babies. Anything that has to do with The Cartoon Network, The Power Puff Girls and Scoobie Doo, will keep her attention through any major earthquake. Ha Ha. I think we own just about every Barney tape ever made and are starting a collection of Teletubbies tapes and Scoobie Doo, as well.. She is learning very fast, sometimes too fast, and is now talking our ears off. Her favorite food is pizza and McDonalds chicken nuggets and her favorite word is "Why?".

Abby

Picture of AbbyHere is Abby. She is a mixed breed, somewhere between a collie, a dachsund and a "I don't know". I picked here up back in Oct 1996, when I visited my family in Iowa. She was just a puppy in the local animal shelter and I adopted her, because I wanted Hannah to have a dog she could grow with. Abby grew just a little more than I thought she would and sometimes I think she gets into more things than Hannah. Abby is currently staying with Diane's folks in Georgia until we move on post. She has adapted well to the Bruce household and Hannah loves her dearly, as we all do. She puts up with so much from Hannah that I am very surprised she has bitten her, but she won't. I have published some of the pictures of what Hannah has done with Abby.

Emma

Picture of EmmaHere is Emma, our newest addition. She is a Tortie feline and darn right arnry sometimes. But she can be a loveable companion when she wants to be. Just don't leave her alone in the house for too long. She is like Hannah, she loves Beanie Babies and if Hannah leaves them laying around, then Emma plays with them. She will pick them up in her mouth and run around the house. She will stop and throw it up in the air over her back and then attack it. It is downright hilarious to watch. I can pick up a Beanie Baby and shake it and Emma will stop whatever she is doing and will watch and wait for me to throw it. Then she will fetch it, except she will not return it to me.

In Memory

Buffy

Picture of BuffyThis is Buffy. As some people will remember, she was with us in Germany when I started this home page. Buffy was put to sleep on 4 Jan 1999, as she had cancer very bad. She was a miniature Schnauzer and was 11 years old. We got Buffy while we were stationed at Ft Riley, KS, in Oct 1987, just before we left to come to Germany for the first time. She had been with us through thick and thin. She was a little tempermental, especially when Hannah was messing with her. She also had cateracts very bad and was almost blind, but that did not stop her, but was very difficult near the end. She was a good dog and will be missed.
